One Victim Airlifted

IN THE NEW YORK FINGER LAKES REGION an North Seneca Ambulance collided with a mini-bus Tuesday afternoon around 2 pm in the town of Waterloo.

The ambulance had a patient on board and was traveling emergency with lights and siren to the hospital when it was passing the mini-bus, apparently on the right.  The bus driver attempted to pull to the right to yield but instead collided with the ambulance, knocking it out of the travel lane and into a utility pole.  The impact broke the pole.

The bus driver was the only passenger in that vehicle and she was transported for injuries as well as the patient and the three ambulance personnel.  WHEC-TV provided the injury update:

Two North Seneca Ambulance personnel were taken to Strong Hospital. Amy Kaplan, 22 of Hamburg, was taken to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight for a head injury. Reginald L. Bailey, 43, of Shortsville, was transported to Strong Hospital by Phelps Ambulance for a possible side injury. Police are not releasing any information on the patient that was in the ambulance.

The driver of the ambulance, William R. Storrs, 24, of Waterloo, was taken to Geneva General Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance for evaluation.

The bus driver, Patricia A. Putney, 59, of Seneca Falls, was transported to Geneva General Hospital for possible head and neck injury.
