Here are the latest recalls:

Neotek Corporation is recalling (NHTSA recall no. 12E-057) certain replacement brake rotors, branded as DURALAST, part number 5399, sold exclusively through Autozone.

Some of the brake rotors may have been produced from castings with narrow thickness in the bridge between the mounting surface and the braking surface. The narrow area of the casting can allow for fractures.

Neotek will notify the Autozone retail outlets and post public notices about the recall. Affected DURALAST brake rotors will be replaced, free of charge. The recall was expected to begin during January 2013. As always, in cases like this, if you think you may have any of the affected parts, you need to be proactive and check with, in this case, Autozone.

Morning Lineup – February 12

Tuesday Morning - "Throw me somethin', Mister!"

Today is Mardis Gras, but I don't make any to-do about it anymore.  The colorful, raucus celebration that is most notable is the one held in New Orleans, Lousiana, but about 30-40 years ago the grand show degenerated into a drunken frat house party and lost a lot of its charm.  But if you've never been to one, then it's worth the trip at least once.

The parades with their outrageous and colorful floats are the main cultural attraction, and most people outside the region are unaware that parade season runs for about two weeks leading up the the big bang on Tuesday night.  Every town and city within a 50-mile radius of N. O. holds a parade and they are scattered about with a few being held every night.  As the Fat Tuesday gets closer, there are more and more of them climbing from 3 or 4 a night to as many as a dozen or more here and there.

In New Orleans itself, for the past five days or so there have been several parades each night in different areas of the city, but today there is only one parade and that is the Big One held in the French Quarter and runs for hours and hours.  It's quite a spectacle.

Changing topics drastically now, we've been asked to pass along a shameless sales blurb about an online retailer MackTrucks.com .  There are legions of Mack fans in the fire-rescue community, largely because of their history of building some mighty fine firetrucks for a few decades.  The shop is having its Winter Closeout Event and Firegeezer readers can take advantage of an extra 25% discount off the already-reduced prices.

The offer is valid through 2/28/13 on purchases made online at MackShop.com. The 25% discount is applied to items in the closeout specials category only, while supplies last. No other discounts or promotional offers apply. Previous purchases excluded. Promo code: CLOSEOUT13 required at time of checkout. You will need the Promo Code, so jot it down and have it handy when you checkout.

Now it's time to jot down our travels through the check sheets and get our equipment checked out.  I wish I could get a discount on the coffee, but I'll get the Bunn-O-Matic going anyway.  See you back in the day room in a little while.
