Ambulance Sideswiped, Then Crashes in Florida

A LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMBULANCE was transporting a patient in Fort Myers Sunday evening when a pickup truck sidewiped it.  The impact caused the ambulance to swerve off the road and smash into a palm tree.  It also caused a cement power pole to break and tumble across the cab of the ambulance.

The wreck happened around 7:45 pm and was caused by the driver of the pickup, Jacinto Torres, 42, who has been charged with failure to drive within a single lane and failure to signal when changing lanes.

The driver of the ambulance, Bunny Adams, and two other EMT's along with their patient were all transported with non-serious injuries.  An unknown number of passengers from the pickup truck were also transported.  It hasn't been disclosed whether the ambulance was running emergency or not.

Stop Sign-Running Ambulance Destroys Car

A FORT MYERS, FLORIDA, AMBULANCE passed through a stop sign Tuesday evening and crashed into the side of an automobile.  The ambulance was carrying a patient, but did not have any emergency lights or siren activated.

Witnesses told police that the ambulance rolled into the intersection without stopping first, then broadsided the passenger car.

Six people were transported, four from the car, the ambulance driver and the patient.  Police say that all six had serious injuries.
