Cudahy Fire Update

KURTIS POPP, BROTHER OF JOSHUA POPP, was sentenced today for his part in starting the July 5 fire in Cudahy, Wisconsin, that caused $50 million damages to the Patrick Cudahy Packing Plant.  Kurtis launched the military flare that his brother had stolen from the Army and had landed on the roof of the plant starting the fire.  The judge gave Kurtis the same sentence that he’d handed down to Joshua two weeks ago, 3 months in jail, 3 years probation and 500 hours of community service. 

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Dennis Cimpl told Popp that he was being sentenced for “being stupid.”  There was no punishment equal to the damage that the brothers did to the community.  As he did with Joshua, Judge Cimpl ordered that the 3 months sentence be served by spending each of the next three July’s incarcerated.
