A BEECH GROVE, INDIANA, RESCUE ENGINE COLLIDED with an SUV late Monday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital. Witness reports say that the woman driving the SUV had stopped at a stopsign, but pulled out into the path of the engine that was responding with its lights and siren on. The engine struck the SUV and drove it across the street and into a commercial parking lot where they ended up at a self-serve gasoline station.

The SUV was smashed into a gas pump partially knocking it over, and both vehicles suffered heavy damages. The driver of the SUV was seriously injured and two of the firefighters were transported for less-than-serious injuries.

Engine 102 was responding on a mutual aid call into Indianapolis for a reported building collapse when the accident occurred.
