The Headline Says It All:

Liquor License Suspended After
Topless Midget Wrestling

A Canton, Illinois, bar is losing its liquor license for 60 days after a law enforcement official observed two topless midget women putting on a wrestling exhibition.  Illinois law does not permit nudity in bars or establishments that serve liquor.

Kim Scott, the owner of Outskirts Bar and Grill, protested the penalty saying that she had a contract with the Micro Wrestling Federation for male wrestlers to perform. When the group was performing, Scott said, two women in oil were wrestling topless while she was outside smoking.  She said that she stopped the match as soon as she found out the women were topless.

Chicago Museum Has Destructive Fire

A FIRE AT A CULTURAL MUSEUM IN CHICAGO’S CHINATOWN Friday afternoon left much of the museum destroyed.

The 4-story Chinese-American Museum of Chicago on W. Alexander Street was reported to be closed Friday afternoon.  Around 2:00 calls started coming in to dispatch reporting flames coming from the roof.  When the first units arrived an extra alarm was called.  Eventually 140 FF’s were on the scene battling the fire that was reported to be out at 3:50.

The third and fourth floors sustained major damage and the second floor had “substantial” damage.  The first floor also has some fire damage.  Investigators have not yet determined the cause.  A fire department official says that it appears to have started in the walls of the 112-yr.-old building.

The museum, which opened in 2005 in a former warehouse and grocery, had become a repository for photos and artifacts dating back to 1856 and donated by community members.  The bulk of the historical items were stored on the first two floors and a late report from WMAQ-TV says that there was no serious damage to the artifacts, depite heavy damage to the structure.

The Chicago Tribune has a REPORT.

Somebody To Look Up To

THE 2009 EDITION OF THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS is scheduled to be released soon.  As a means to promote the release, the publishers held a publicity stunt in London’s Trafalgar Square Tuesday where they displayed the world’s smallest man, He Pingping from Outer Mongolia, along with a Russian woman who holds the record for having the longest legs of any other woman in the world.

Pingping stands 2 ft.-5 inches tall, just barely half the length of Svetlana Pankratova’s legs which have been measured at 4 ft.-4 inches in length.

Back home, Pingping operates a restaurant and Pankratova, well ….. the 6′-4″ lady stands around a lot.

The London Telegraph took this video where they caught him violating Rule #1:  “Don’t look up!”

Finger Lickin’ Security

kfc colonel

“TAKE IT FROM THE COLONEL” is the advice given when it comes to fried chicken.  But when it comes to recipes, the KFC wants to make sure that nobody takes their Original Recipe away from the Colonel.  In the ranking of corporate secrets, Colonel Sanders’ special blend of 11 herbs and spices is probably second only to the Coca-Cola recipe.

Recently, the head of KFC felt that the security level protecting Harlan Sanders’ handwritten recipe wasn’t as high as it should be.  So company president Roger Eaton hired noted security expert Bo Dietl to advise and arrange to upgrade the protection of the yellowing slip of paper that was written in pencil by the Colonel 68 years ago.

On Tuesday the first step in this improvement took place when the recipe was transported to an undisclosed location for temporary storage while the corporate office is beefed up with the latest in security measures.  Using a phalanx of off-duty Louisville, Kentucky, police officers and an armored car, Mr. Dietl himself handcuffed the briefcast to his wrist and, after posing for the assembled press corps, rode the truck to the new home.

Ticked-off Travelers Torch Their Train

BUENOS AIRES COMMUTERS REACHED THE LIMITS OF PATIENCE Thursday when a train filled with people on their way to work was delayed at a station for several hours causing them to miss a full day’s work.  A riot then ensued.

A group of the frustrated commuters began throwing rocks at the ticketing booths, painting the train cars and eventually setting the train on fire causing over $8 million in damages.

The beleaguered Transportation Minister blamed it all on leftist extremists saying that someone sabotaged the brakes and then people who came with incendiaries in their backpacks pulled them out and started the riot.

Police have over 20 arrests in the incident.

The Associated Press has this raw video of the incident:

Transpo Week Extended

TRANSPORTATION WEEK JUST KEEPS PRODUCING HERE AT FIREGEEZER.

After last week’s numerous entries of planes, trains, trucks, cars, buses, motorcycles, and fire engines,  we kept on going.   Earlier today we added balloons, Conestoga wagons, more trains and race cars.

We’ll finish it up today with the most obvious form of transportation of all …… running:

The Australian Stiletto Sprint was held yesterday (Tuesday).  The 80-meter sprint became a record-setter when it had the most entrants of any stiletto sprint ever, shattering the old record of 150.

And they’re off !

265 Australian glams with gams raced for fame and fortune wearing 3-inch high heels.  In order to be an official race, all the girls were checked to see that their heels met the 3-inch minimum and that they had “smooth legs.”  The Guinness Book of Records recorded and accepted the race results.

The Winner, Brittney McGlone

An 18-yr.-old professional track star, Brittney McGlone won the race and collected $5,000 and a pair of gold Terry Biviano stilettos for her efforts.  “It looks like Australia has smashed the current world record and should now hold the title for the most number of people ever to participate in a stiletto sprint,” Australian representative for Guinness World Records Chris Sheedy said.

And of course, Firegeezer has the video:

Unusual Artwork

A CHINESE ARTIST, LIU BOLIN, has posted a gallery of some unusual, but fascinating, artistic tableaux.

Posing her models in front of a scenic view, she then paints their clothes and exposed skin to match the backdrop, giving the model a ghostly, transparent look.

New Zealand Court OK’s Porn Parade

FIREFIGHTERS IN AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, WERE PREPARING for counter-protesters’ promised wave of false alarm calls in office buildings along a major city street today.

Yesterday a court gave the ok for a “Boobs On Bikes” parade of 100 porn stars on motorcycles along the aptly-named Queen Street.  The Auckland City Council had sought an injunction to halt the parade which is part of the “Erotica Expo” organized by self-styled “porn king” Steve Crow.

Thousands of protesters were out in force to try and disrupt the event and they had forewarned the fire brigade that they would be pulling alarm boxes all along the parade route.  They were hoping to create chaos by inducing the fire engines to respond to the box alarms.  But the Fire Service officials said that they had put measures in place to prevent the false alarms.

The crowds of spectators were 10-deep in some areas along the parade route and thousands kept trying to block the roadway and prevent the parade of porn stars from progressing.  One group preceded the parade carrying a large banner reading:  “Pornography fuels sexual violence against women and children”.

Untold numbers of spectators held digital cameras and cell phones while some stood on phone booths, bus shelters and balconies over-looking Queen Street.
