Another Missing Caption

ANOTHER PHOTO CAME OFF THE AP WIRE while its caption went elsewhere.  We all like fire action photos, but this fire seems to be lacking any action.  I'm not sure why things came to a halt, whether that was as far as the line would stretch, or if these firefighters haven't seen anything like this before.

So it's up to you to help us figure out what is happening here.  What is going through these guys' minds right now?  Leave your suggestions in the Comments so that everyone can learn the answer.

Friday’s Missing Caption

THIS PHOTO THAT CAME IN from Getty caught my eye, even though I think I know what they're trying to do.  Or do I?  This shot arrived without the correct caption, leaving it up to us to figure out what all is going on here.  There's no doubt that they're firefighters, but what is this new method?  And what are they standing in?

It's up to you to provide the answers for us, so let us know what you think they are and post them in the Comments so that we can learn.

WE ALL KNOW THAT THE ROOKIE always gets the worst housework assignments, but in this department they're really brutal about it.  Unfortunately, when the AP sent this photo out, the caption went off in a different direction.  So we're not certain about what this probie's assignment is today, but if he had a paddle instead of a shovel we might have a better idea.

If you have an idea of what he's doing here, please post it in the Comments so that we can hopefully find out.

THIS UNUSUAL VIEW dropped in via AP, but as sometimes happens, it also dropped its caption somewhere along the way.

My first reaction was to wonder if the herring are running?  But it seems a little late in the season for that.  Maybe you can help out and tell us in the Comments what you think is going on here.

THIS WEEK'S LONELY PHOTO that arrived without a caption came to us from the Associated Press.  I'm sure somebody up there in New York knows what's going on here, but I sure don't.

The first thing that came to mind was that old joke, "How many firefighters does it take to pull a hose line?"

But I suspect the answer is different from that question.  What do you think should be written under the photo?  Tell us by posting your suggestion in the Comments for everybody to see and share.

THIS PHOTO SLIPPED THROUGH FROM AP without its caption this week, so I can only speculate on what's going on here:

It's a lonely time when you're running a 1-man engine company.  It takes a while to get set up:

  • Position the pumper…
  • Stretch the line…
  • Go back and put the pump in gear…
  • Return to the nozzle…
  • Go back because you forgot your SCBA…
  • (you need to take it from here:)

Post your caption completeion in the Comments, like always.

ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER MISSING CAPTION. This one slipped through from Reuters and I'm sure sorry that they lost the caption. It appears to have been taken at station 61, someplace, but I don't know where.

There are so many possible explanations of what's going on that I can't begin to list them all. But don't let that stop you. Tell us what you think the caption for this celebratory event should be by posting it in the Comments for everybody to see.

HERE WE GO AGAIN, trying to figure out a photo that showed up without a caption to tell us what it's all about.  To me it looks like it's time to strike a second alarm.  But I'm sure that some of our readers out there have a better idea about what's going on here.

So tell us what you think the missing caption should read for this action photo.  Like always, post your suggestion in the Comments so that we can all learn the truth.  Thanks.

Thanks to Reuters for getting this much to us, anyway.

BEING DISPATCHED to "Assist on a Medical Emergency" can lead to any number of situations.  Unfortunately, we don't know for sure what this one is.  As so often happens these days, this photo slipped through without its supplied caption.  So use your imagination and tell us what you think the  proper caption for this action photo should be.

Like always, post it in the Comments so that we can all share your suggestions.

JED STARTED OUT THE STORY by saying, "Let me tell you about the dangdest ambulance call I ever went on…."  And then the sound went off.  Tell us what you think the next one or two lines of the story were.  Carry on Jed's tale and post the next lines in the Comments where everybody can learn where this story went from here.

Well, they've gone and done it again.  Those news dispensers have lost another caption and I don't know what happened here.  It looks interesting, though, and I sure would like to find out what led to this situation.  So put on your thinking caps and come up with a good caption for this after-incident photo.  Post your suggestion in the Comments box and we'all all learn from it.

IT SEEMS LIKE A WEEK cannot go by without at least one photo coming through the news wire lacking the proper caption.

So once again I need to rely on you to tell us what is going on here in just a few words.  I'm really curious about this one, so please post your suggested caption in the Comments where we can all see it.

HERE WE GO AGAIN….. another news photo that strayed from its caption, leaving open all manner of explanations as to what is going on.  My first response was "task force," but I don't think that's what we are looking at, do you?

Help me out here and come up with what you think is the proper caption for this photo.  As always, post your suggestion in the Comments section where we can all benefit from your choice.

Many of the best fire departments are those that have delineated duties and responsibilities for each member on the scene of any emergency.  But I have never before encountered someone who has this firefighter's duty.  But he is definitely on the job and confident in his ability to "get it done," whatever "it" is.  So help me out here and tell all of us just what this guy is doing and where he fits into the extinguishment plan.

Post your caption in the Comments section where everyone can see and learn.

WE GET SOME REALLY interesting fire / EMS news photos here, including the ones that wander in without their captions or any explanation of what is going on.  And it happened again.  We just don't know what is being documented here.  Something was either said …. or done ….. or maybe thought about, but it's hard to say what.  If you think you know what this caption should read, then please post it in the comments so that everybody can learn.

THE FALTERING ECONOMY HAS FORCED cutbacks in a lot of areas, but I don't understand exactly what happened here.  Once again a photo dropped off the newswire while its caption kept on going to someplace else.  So it's up to you to provide the proper caption for this week's hot shot.  Tell us what you think is happening, or what you think these guys are talking about, and post it in the Comments so that we can learn.

HERE WE GO AGAIN….  Another photo blowing around the blogosphere that got separated from its caption.  I don't know for certain what is going on here with this firefighter, but I remember that St. Patrick's Day was just a week ago and I get the feeling that a leprechaun has something to do with it.  Am I right, or do you know something that I don't?  Let us all know what you think the caption should read by posting it in the Comments.  Faith and Begorragh.

THIS WEEK’S PHOTO HAS got me wondering, what are these guys doing here?  What’s more, I don’t know what they are talking about.  The photo came through, but the caption did not.  So you will have to help us out here, and tell us what is going on with this lonely pair of firefighters.

As usual, post your answer in the Comments so that we can all find out what is going on.

HERE WE GO AGAIN …. another photo showing intense firefighting activity arrived without a description or suggested caption.  I sure would like to know what it is that the firefighters found to be so interesting.  Even the white helmets are craning for a peek.

If you have any idea at all of what they are looking at, or saying about it, please let us know by posting your suggestion in the Comments section.  Remember that this is a family-friendly website, so be carefull if the word “naked” is part of the solution.

THIS IS CLEARLY NOT THE TIME for some O.J.T.  So I cannot tell you what is going on here.  And since the photo arrived without a caption, we don’t know what the boss is saying to the nozzleman.  Maybe his GPS is broken?  I don’t know.  Help us out here and tell what you think the caption should read for this photo.  Post it in the Comments so that we can all learn.

This week’s caption is a little different.  Since this is a family- and work-friendly website, we cannot print what the firefighters are saying here.

So tell us what you think the radio transmission is?  How is the operator putting his thoughts  over the air?  Use the Comments to tell us.

I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I DON’T keep up with the advances in emergency medical equipment as well as I could.  So I don’t really know the story behind this unsual piece of equipment.  Is is a mass casualty AED?  Or what?   Help me out here and tell me what this is.  Post your answer in the Comments so that everybody can learn along with me.

WE’RE AT A LOSS TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE.  At first I thought it was a new, smooth bore nozzle, but it might not be.  In fact, I can’t be sure if it’s a training session or a fire attack of some kind with a piece of equipment I am unfamiliar with.

What to you think is going on here?  Post your suggestion in the Comments so everyone can decide whether to agree with you or not.  Meanwhile I will try and find out who the supplier is and how much they cost.

Thanks to Steve R. for grabbing this one for us.
