More Than 80 Injured
A WEEKEND SHOW OF PLANE and truck acrobatics in Chihuahua, Mexico, was halted Satuday following a tragic accident that killed at least 13 spectators.
It was the third annual "Extreme Aeroshow" which attracts 200,000 spectators and includes airplane stunts, skydiving and motorcycle acrobatics and other daredevil acts including Monster Truck performances.
There were 3,600 people attending one of the Monster Truck demos where a truck was crushing some cars and then using a pile of dirt to launch it into the air and then land on the cars for a display of wanton destruction. During the dirt-pile launch the truck came down hard and the driver reportedly had his helmet knocked off, then banged his head on the roof knocking him silly. The truck, with its accelerator held down by the groggy driver, then plowed into some of the spectators that had no guard rails or other barriers to protect them.
The bright red truck is seen driving uncontrolled through
the unsuspecting crowd. Two of those many children in the
foreground were killed. (Telegraph)
In this video that was captured by one of the spectators and provided by RT, you will see the truck careen full throttle into the crowd and continue on for a distance until the driver comes around and brings it to a stop.
While the death toll is 13 at the time of this posting, the police say that they expect that figure to climb. Of the 80+ that were injured, at least 46 remain hospitalized Sunday night.
