Labor Day – Watch Out Below!
Final day of this year's Fill-the-Boot campaign. In our region the weather has really been favorable for the streetside collecting, and tonight the grand totals will start rolling in. For some strange reason the TV special was broadcast last night, perhaps to whip up support for the final day. But by tomorrow morning we will have a pretty good idea of how successful this year's drive was.
While we're waiting, how about some holiday excitement to go along with morning coffee? This dramatic video came from Taiwan and was captured on a citizen's dash cam Saturday afternoon.
First, take a look at this photo. Note at the top there is a large boulder setting between the two peaks above the McDonald's sign:
That was taken some time ago by the Google Street View car. Now play the video and at the very beginning you will see that boulder self-dislodge at the 4-second mark as gravity takes over and guides it down the cliff. Keep watching and see what happens 19 seconds later.
Amazingly, as you may have noticed on the video, the driver was uninjured and able to step out of the car on his own.
If that doesn't make a believer out of you, then nothing would. Let's get started on the equipment check now. We have to hit the street in a little while and I've got to start up the Bunn-O-Matic one more time.
