Monday Morning – In The Holiday Mode
Here we are in Day 3 of the long weekend. Now everybody's mental calendar will be all messed up again for the rest of the week as we keep asking ourselves, "What day is this again?" I am definitely in holiday mode myself today. Since I'm retired, I don't get paid holidays anymore. Shucks, I don't even get sick leave anymore, either. If I get sick, I'm on my own. Besides, there is nobody I can call to report it. They just won't listen. So I'll be taking a self-imposed break today and do nothing but "surf the web" and continue to pass along some of the good stuff to you.
For instance, here is a video report from Maine where a sporting organization called New England Fights promoted and held a fight card last weekend under the banner of the Mixed Martial Arts sanctioning body. I guess the fights were pretty exciting, but the real headliner was the walking proof that it doesn't take a lot of brain power to be the "Card Girl" who parades around the perimeter of the ring after each round holding up the big number card informing the crowd which round is coming up next.
This mathematically-challenged bikini babe hopped into the cage with the big 4 card to announce the upcoming fourth round of a 3-round fight:
But it wasn't over yet, folks. Later that same night, what appears to be the same Card Girl whose cranial cavity is obviously void of life form, jumped into the ring not at the end of the round, but when some poor shlub was knocked out and laying in the ring for the count plus an extra hundred. After she stepped over the prone battler, the winning fighter informed her that she could sit down now because the fight was over.
Now that I think about it, I'll bet everyone has worked with somebody this clueless at sometime or another. Am I right?
Alrighty firefight fans, let's get the equipment checked out now. Even though it's a holiday, it's still Monday and we have to use the long checksheet. While you get started, I'll get the coffee going again. See you back in the digital day room in a little while.
