Ladder Rescue by Firefighter
A HOUSE FIRE IN A SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS, single-family dwelling early this morning took the lives of four people. A fifth person was rescued via ladder by the firefighters from the blaze that was reported just before midnight.

The State Journal-Register reports:
Springfield Fire Chief Ken Fustin said firefighters were called to the scene at 11:43 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters rescued a female occupant from the second floor of the home using a ladder, Fustin said. Authorities have not released the names of the victims.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire department personnel were still on the scene as of 8:15 a.m. Central Friday.
