Wednesday Morning Rush
Only Superman can leap over tall buildings in a single bound, but there are a lot of firefighters who are seeking records in leaping through obstacle courses these days. I'm referring, of course, to the popular and fast-growing firefighter themed obstacle course Hero Rush. This unique and challenging competition has just completed its first full season of traveling around the USA and bringing hundreds of firefighters and their families together for a day of entertainment, competition, and family fun.
It's a certified obstacle race set up on a 5 K course with about 15 unique obstacles that were designed by firefighters and add to the enjoyment of both entrants and spectators. To no one's surprise, you start your timed run by running up a flight of stairs and then sliding down a fire pole, then ringing a bell and you're on your way.
An added feature to the Hero Rush event is the special section set up for kids of all ages. Appropriately designed challenges for the youngsters adds to the family festivities of the day.
It was just recently announced that Men's Journal Magazine has reviewed and rated dozens of obstacle races nationwide and listed Hero Rush in their Top-7 list of Best Obstacle Races. CLICK HERE to read the article.
The 2013 Hero Rush schedule is already filling up now that thousands of firefighters witnessed it on its inaugural tour this year and want to get in on the fun. It kicks off on Florida in January and 14 dates are taken so far in all corners of the country. Go to the Hero Rush WEBSITE to check it out, watch some of the videos, and see when they will be passing through your neighborhood.
Now let's leap over the pumper, crawl beneath the undercarriage and get this equipment checked out. I'll get some more fortifying coffee going before we meet back in the day room.
