Moving Out So That Others Can Move Up ….

THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF THE WARSAW, North Carolina, Fire Department was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing more than $300,000 from his fire department.  Joseph Allen Burgette, 42, was charged with eight counts of embezzlement and released Thursday on $40,000 bond.  In addition to his post as deputy chief he had served as the department treasurer.  He has recently resigned from the department.

Police say that the thefts have been taking place since 2005.  They were called in by Fire Chief John Blackmore who had been tipped off by some FD members' suspicions.

Burgette is scheduled for a court appearance on September 21.
