ONE OF THE CLASSIC EPISODES FROM any television comedy series that is still remembered and talked about is the “Turkeys Away” episode on WKRP in Cincinnati, the legendary series that ran for four seasons, 88 episodes, beginning in 1978.
Anybody over the age 40 has memories of the program about a collection of wacky characters who work at a dysfunctional radio station in Cincinnati, including the burned-out rock DJ Dr. Johnny Fever and the outlandishly serious news announcer Les Nessman. It was also the vehicle that launched the beautiful Loni Anderson into stardom.
The Thanksgiving episode that made tv history was broadcast in the first season and its reputation will live for many more years yet. As a service to our readers we will run that tv classic here today. I will alert you that the last spoken line in the episode, which is uttered by “Big Guy” Mr. Carlson is listed in the Top-100 Funniest Lines in television history. So enjoy and get ready for your own Turkey Day. (the episode runs for 24 minutes.)
