Ambulance Gets Wired

A CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMBULANCE CREW needed rescuing themselves early Tuesday morning.  The Silver Spring Township ambulance responded to a pre-dawn call for an auto accident  where the car, driven by Dusty LeBeau, 29, went off the road and hit a supporting cable for an electric pole.  The stress caused the pole to snap and left the charged power line hanging low over the road.

When the ambulance arrived on the scene, they got tangled in the drooping wire, caused the circuit breaker to ka-boom and were immediately taken out of service.  The ambulance was effectively grounded, so the crew just sat tight and waited for the power company to arrive and clear the hazard.

WHP-TV Ch. 21 Harrisburg filed this video report on the incident:

The victim of the initial accident was freed before the ambulance crew was and he was airlifted to the hospital.  The Patriot-News has the STORY.

Have they not heard of parking away from the hazard… duh… scene safety. Perfect example of how an ambulance crew is useless if they can not get to the scene safely !!!!
