A 3-ALARM FIRE IN MILFORD, CONNECTICUT, SUNDAY MORNING destroyed three homes and heavily damaged three more.

The fire began around 4 am in the shore community of Walnut Beach in a vacant house, then spread rapidly to the two adjoining homes. The Milford Fire Department met the challenge and largely contained the fire just as it was spreading through the neighborhood. Three additional homes were damaged but can be rebuilt. Along with the vacant home that was completely burned down, the other two homes had to be demolished later Sunday afternoon. It is possible that still one more may have to be condemned.

The Milford Fire Department says that a total of 11 people were made homeless from the blaze and the local Red Cross chapter is assisting them. The state fire marshal’s office has been brought in to investigate the cause of the fire.
