(THAT CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION, DIDN’T IT?) In this day and age it’s not very often that we get to report on streetcar collisions, but that’s what happened earlier today (Thursday) in Karlsruhe, Germany, when two multi-unit street cars crashed head-on in the city center at an intersection.

The crash occured during the noon hour leaving 27 people injured with six of them in critical condition, including the two drivers.

The accident brought more than 200 fire, rescue and police officers to the scene along with emergency trauma surgeons who treated the most seriously injured victims in a triage tent before they were transported. More than 20 victims were hospitalized. One of the train drivers lost a foot in the crumple, but it is unclear at the present time if it was amputated by a physician or the wreckage.
