A SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, MAN WAS SERIOUSLY injured Saturday morning when he set his house on fire while burning his divorce papers. The man, whose father says he has been distraught lately, had been setting papers and other small articles on fire around the house since Friday, but nothing caught on.

Then shortly after 10 am Pacific time on Saturday, he barricaded himself inside his bedroom and used the papers from his recent divorce to get one rocking. He lives with his father who was home at the time and who explained for the press, “He’s been going through a pretty bad divorce; under a lot of stress. He was trying to burn some papers from his ex-wife. I don’t know; I was asleep this morning when all this took place.”
Firefighters broke into the smoke-charged bedroom and carried him out before extinguishing the fire. The unidentified man is hospitalized in serious condition from burns and smoke inhalation.
