…. TRY BURNING IT.  A fleeing criminal eluded Missouri and Kansas police for four hours early Tuesday morning until he was forced to surrender after his car ignited and became a rolling fireball.  The unidentified 28-yr.-old man was being pursued at first by Leawood, Kansas police who cut off pursuit shortly after midnight when the car started driving the wrong way down I-435.  Later, the Kansas City, Missouri, police picked up on the car, but lost it again.  Around 4 am they spotted the car and a third pursuit ensued that led into Olathe, Kansas.

KCTV describes what happened next:

Kansas City police said they put out spikes, which flattened two tires before the chase crossed over into the Leawood area again. Leawood police said they put out more spikes and flattened the other two tires.

Leawood police said the rims rubbing on the road caused sparks, which caught the fuel tank on fire and stopped the engine. Olathe police made the arrest when the car came to a stop. Leawood police have the man in custody and he will face felony vehicle and fleeing police charges.

KCTV Ch. 5 Kansas City has the report with the police dashcam video:
