A FAST-SPREADING FIRE IN SOUTH LONDON’S PECKHAM area (UK) sent 300 apartment dwellers out into the streets Thursday morning. The fire had apparently started in a construction site and seems to have triggered some gas cylinder explosions that accelerated the fire spread.

BBC News / Wood
The alarm was transmitted to the London Fire Brigade at 4:30 am and when the first units arrived on scene the fire had already spread to two large apartment blocks. The initial attack force was confronted with three large buildings involved in the fire. The photo and video views suggest that these modern 4-story apartments were built with common attic areas as seen by the entire roof structures burned off.
Sky News has this video report from the scene:
So far, there are not any reports of any serious injuries despite the high number of people who were alseep when the fire broke out, but ten people have gone to the hospital seeking treatment for smoke inhalation.
Fire units are still on the scene and there is no other information yet on the cause or the outcome of the blaze. Firegeezer will update if any new reports are issued.
