Part Three
Since the storm was approaching so quickly, I decided I would head straight to the fire station and stand in the bay and watch the storm go by. As I pulled into the lot, a fantastic lightning bolt hit the bell on the side of the building, causing it to ring louder than I had ever heard it. The building became enveloped in an electric blue haze and the light bulbs in the fixtures on the front of the station exploded with a loud pop and a shower of sparks.
I thought to myself “Oh great, there go all of our computers and radio equipment.” The station’s wiring was antiquated and wasn’t going to stand up to this kind of power surge. Heck, maybe we would get lucky and the station would burn down and insurance could build us a new one!
