Chapter 5
Sure enough, shorty after the new engine arrived, Hank died in the hospital of a massive heart attack. Some have said that he died of a broken heart when he heard that Old Red was to be put up for sale or scrapped. Old Red had one last assignment before retirement, and that was to take Hank for his final ride to the cemetery.
Soon after, Old Red was stripped of her equipment, moved out of the station and parked out front with a “For Sale” sign in the window, while the new Green Machine perched in Old Red’s bay. A disgraceful end to a glorious career. Or was it really the end?
