I am constantly amazed at how information gets shared so well and so quickly with internet blogs. That’s one of the things that makes running this site so much fun. Yesterday I posted a link to another website (FireNews.net) directing my readers to a photo of a ladder truck in Santiago, Chile, that carries 18 FF’s and 500 ft. of ground ladders. I didn’t carry the story, just the link to it. And yet I got emails and a Comment on Santiago’s FD. As the youngsters like to say, “How cool is that?”
One of our loyal readers, Christian L. who is in Germany passed along some interesting information about how and why each fire company in Santiago has entirely different kinds of running gear. I don’t want to offend my friends up in Massachusetts, so I won’t say anything about the Bruins’ performance against the Caps on the season-opening game last night. I’m sure they will play a lot better over the course of the season. Especially against the other teams in the league.

I really enjoyed visiting with a lot of the attendees at the Fairfax County Officers Seminar in the Tyson’s Corner Marriott yesterday. Believe it or not, there were a few people there who hadn’t yet heard of the Firegeezer website, but FossilMedic and I conducted some on-the-scene training and clued them in to what they’ve been missing. And you know what? We even talked to one FF who has run a call for one of those continuous-pump artificial heart patients that we’ve been talking about. You remember, the STORY about people with no pulse. All together, now: “How cool is that?”
I won’t be able to join the fun at the Marriott today, but Mike “FossilMedic” Ward has the situation well in hand.

You might notice, too, from the photo that the Marriott graciously placed our table next to a full bank of coffee urns. That was because we weren’t allowed to be placed next to a full bank of beer taps. Oh, well.
Let’s get this equipment checked out now. We’ve got a busy Friday planned and I have to get the coffee started.
