AN APARTMENT FIRE IN NORTH YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND, has claimed the lives of two jockey-apprentices ages 18 and 19 early Saturday morning.

Police have already determined that it was an arson, primarily because the fire was set in the stairway of the 3-story building, blocking the only egress for the occupants who were enjoying a party in the flat. Two people jumped out of the windows to escape, one man also a jockey.
Sky News filed this video report prior to the official identification of the bodies:
Police arrested a 30-yr.-old man on suspicion later Saturday and, after quesioning, he was released on bail.
The two victims were Jan Wilson, a 19-yr.-0ld woman from Scotland who had recently won her first race, and Jamie Kyne, 18, who had been touted as one of Ireland’s most promising young jockeys.
