They can do wonders in maximizing the floor space of a very small bedroom. The problem is, if you don't choose the right bunk bed, you may be putting your child's safety at risk. There have been a lot of reports of accidents resulting from improper set up or manufacturing of bunk beds and it always pays to be very careful in selecting one for your children. And they, like all the departments out our dispatch, don't even have bunk rooms. There are some ambulance corps which have them, and the rumours around town from the shenanigans decades ago still have a sour taste in some of the older members that they're strongly against volunteers sleeping at the station. Our own policy is you can stay as late as you want, and sometimes you'll find youngbucks hanging out till three or four in the morning. It's something we've always encouraged. But you can't sleep at the station overnight except for events like blizzards.
