HENRY ALLINGHAM IS THE OLDEST MAN IN GREAT BRITAIN and now he has become the oldest man in the world at age 113. He was in 2nd place for a long time, right behind Tomoji Tanabe who was only a few months Allingham’s elder. Tanabe passed away last Friday at his home in southern Japan.

Worthing Today
Mr. Allingham, whose life has spanned three centuries and six monarchs, has five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. When asked what he most attributes to his longevity, he credits “cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women.”
He is also one of only two surviving UK veterans of the First World War and the only surviving founding member of the RAF. The AP has this brief video announcement:
The Daily Telegraph has a nice summary of his military exploits and some highlights of his life HERE.
The Times has more about his life HERE.
Allingham was born in London on June 6, 1896. Today he lives in a nursing home near Brighton. Like many centarians, he has lost his sight and most of his hearing. But his mind is still clear and he understands what is going on and had a great time at his recent 113th birthday party that was given him by the Royal Navy, as shown in this video from the UK Press Association:
