The song of the selfish.. "Save my JUNK (Treasure)"
"I'm not concerned about someone not going home, just what is mine."
"I just don't get this attitude about people not being just concerned about me and mine!!!!"

QUESTION...
Why is you JUNK (Treasure) on fire or in a fire...????
Did you keep your home "fire safe"???
How about your exterior "defensible space"???

"It's not MY fault...I'm a victim... Save my JUNK (Treasure)!!!!!"

OK... if it's a FIRE IN A BUILDING we'll wear our protective clothing and safely attempt to extinguish the fire.

If it's a STRUCTURE FIRE where the fire has weakened the structure and NO human life can be saved then it's just JUNK. We'll do better than your neighbor as we lob large GPM "in the window" . AND we STILL might save alot of your JUNK and EVERYONE can go home.

You can then contact your Insurance Agent and
explain why your "Treasure" was damaged.

STAY SAFE

I just don't get the mindset of people who "want to be" firemen but seem to think that means there's no reason for them ever to be in harms way ?
Why do we wear turnout gear, flashhoods, helmets and SCBA ? Oh yeah, because we're "supposed" to be working in a dangerous environment !
Secondly,
One man's "junk" is another man's treasure. I'd hope if my house was on fire a decent attempt to save my "junk" would be made. My neighbor could sit out on the front lawn and lob water in the window from 15 yards away. I expect a little more from trained personnel.
Thirdly,
Of the 100 firefighters who die in LODD's every year how many ACTUALLY die during interior firefighting ? 30-ish maybe ? How many fires are responded to in the US every year ?
I have a feeling more accountants die on the job than firemen...........but the safety brigade wring their hands with the mantra " everyone goes home" ? I just don't get it ? !!!

A planned coorinated attack is the only method of fire supression.
When an incident is escalatiing beyond the capability of personal on the scene you must asked yourself what can I succesfully accomplish to save life.
Unfornuately, civilians deaths are inevitable, we give it our best shot and sometimes we come up short.
Their is an art to Firefighting and our safety is the number one priority. If we can't protect ourselves how can we save the people we protect.

Well it's about time we (the fire service) made this reevaluation.!!!!

We are not seeing enough firefighters being seriously injured or killed
attempting to save JUNK.!!!

This new mindset should really raise those numbers...!!!!!

NOT.!!!!!

Trade no flesh for JUNK.!!!
EVERYONE goes home.!!!!

Stay Safe
