It all started around 10:30 pm Sunday night when a pickup truck ran a stop sign and broadsided cruiser #1, driving it across the oncoming lanes where it was struck by a second car.  Both police officers had to be extricated and are hospitalized.  The driver of the second car suffered broken ribs and the driver of the pickup was charged with 2nd-degree assault and DUI.

Three hours later cruiser #2 was rear-ended by a car whose driver jumped out and ran away.  He was captured shortly after by other units and the officers in the car were treated for minor injuries.

Twelve hours after that cruiser #3 was traveling to an area where there was an investigation for gunshots.  The officer drove through a stop sign and was struck by a van traveling along the cross street.  Both vehicles suffered heavy damage and the policeman was transported with a head injury.
