MORE THAN 21 PEOPLE ARE DEAD with more fatalities expected in Pomerania, Poland, this morning following a devastating fire in a homeless shelter.

TVN24
Firefighters arrived on the scene with the 3-story structure already fully involved at 1 am Monday morning. The records show that 77 people of all ages including families were registered into the facility last night. Around 41 are known to have escaped the blaze while the post-fire search has turned up 22 charred bodies at last count. While more than ten more are unaccounted for, the death toll is expected to rise.
Many of the survivors suffered smoke inhalation, including an 8-month-old infant, and broken bones from jumping out of upper story windows. The facility is operated as a temporary hostel for families awaiting public housing assignments. Witnesses report seeing people leaping from the windows with small children in their arms. Others tossed infants from windows to people below.

The investigators are still on the scene and have not yet determined fully what happened to start the fire. This is still a working fire scene and we expect to be able to update this story later this morning.
