EARLY IN 2007 SCALAR CORPORATION (Japan) introduced a one-eye video player mounted on an eyeglasses frame. Now the device is in full production and will be available in the United States in the near future.

The Teleglass T3-F creates a virtual 28-inch display projected 6 ft. ahead of the wearer. The display unit is mounted on standard eyeglasses and can slide to the side. The 35g light display uses a .24inch QVGA resolution LCD panel. A newly developed prism lens creates the projection. The resolution is still very low, however. The unit is powered by two AA batteries, weighs a mere 1.2 oz, has a physical screen just under an inch wide, and content is fed to the screen via a wired connection to an iPod. The Teleglass is supposed to give you 2 to 4 hours of viewing on one charge of the batteries.
The price is coming down, now it’s approx. $800, and currently is only available by direct purchase from their WEBSITE. But when it is available in the U. S. it will be sold through their English language web page.
This video demonstrates the easy use of the Teleglasses:
Note: The early models come with a set of eyeglasses that have to be substituted for your own, if you use them. The frame contains a diopter control which allows you to adjust the lens for your own vision requirements. Recent announcements lead me to believe that later versions will be adaptable to your own glasses frames.
