THREE ANIMAL-LOVING PEOPLE WERE ASLEEP insided their modest home Tuesday morning in Warren County, Iowa, when a desparate cat wakened one of them.
The aroused resident got his parents awake and out of the house and then he rounded up some other pets while they were waiting for the FD to arrive. By the time the firefighters arrived the house was fully involved. The temperature outside was below freezing and there was no water supply in the neighborhood, requiring a tanker shuttle.
The cause of the fire was determined to be from a goat kicking over a space heater. There were two goats in a shed attached to the house and the residents had put a space heater in their to keep them warm.
