Retired Dep. Chief Dies In Golf Cart Crash

Roland Scrivner, 79, died Sunday in Walnut Creek, California, as a result from injuries received the day before when a car struck the golf cart that he was riding in.

Scrivner was retired from the Berkeley, California, Fire Department where he served for 29 years, retiring as a Deputy Chief in 1980.

After retiring from the fire department, Chief Scrivner had a successful avocation as a part-time actor on stage and in movies.

Chief Scrivner and his wife were on the golf course with friends when a car collided with the golf cart.  Mrs. Scrivner was not riding in the cart at the time.
