WE HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION that you can reference pertaining to the new sub-woofer sirens that Firegeezer reported on Wednesday with a video HERE.
The model that is being used by the Tulsa ambulance service and heard in the video is the Howler which is manufactured by Whelen Engineering of Chester, Connecticut. They manufacture sirens, lightbars and other emergency signalling equipment.
The Howler is not a replacement siren, but an add-on that you can attach to your existing electronic siren. You can view Whelen’s product sheet HERE (.pdf file).
Whelen’s webpage that has the Howler’s description and features is HERE. Their website’s home page is HERE. If your computer has a big-deal speaker system with a sub-woofer, you can listen to the various siren sounds with and without the Howler HERE.

FEDERAL SIGNAL ALSO HAS A SIMILAR PRODUCT that they market as the RUMBLER (HERE). By all appearances it seems to be identical to the Howler and even sells at about the same price.

The Rumbler may have come out before the Howler because we find several references to it back in January of this year. Like the Howler, it is an add-on. Most likely, your choice between the two will be determined by whoever your fire equipment supplier is.
Here is a demonstration video for the Rumbler:
After listening to the two videos, it sounds like the Howler may be more effective. But you’d have to hear a live demonstration to be able to form an opinion.
