IF YOU ARE WORKING THIS VETERAN’S DAY here are a couple of places you should visit while staffing the watchdesk.
CHANGING HOW WE GET FIREFIGHTING INFORMATION
Last month, while attending the EMS Expo, I wanted to talk to the folks at Fire and Emergency Television Network about rumors of their bankruptcy. Their exhibit space was empty. Back in the day, American Heat was THE place to get well-developed programs covering major incidents or issues.
I was a charter member of the department’s hazardous materials response team and a college haz mat instructor. It was not until I saw an American Heat presentation about burning magnesium in an Indianapolis scrapyard next to a nursing home that I finally could see the unique smoke signature made by burning magnesium.
