A GEORGIA MAN GOT RID OF ALL THOSE NASTY COBWEBS under the eaves of his house the easy way Wednesday.  He burned them out with a blowtorch.  Unfortunately, he also burned out his attic with a blowtorch.

Galen Winchell of Coweta County admits that he was using the blowtorch to clean them out from under the eaves when he notice smoke coming from the attic.  His next move was to call the FD who showed up with three engines.  There was a delay while they waited for the power company because the attic had electric lines running all through it.

Once the power was cut, they knocked it down quickly, keeping the fire damage to the attic which was gutted.  The rest of the house suffered smoke and water damage, however.

The Newman Times-Herald has the STORY.

This seems to be a re-occuring theme, when in doubt, burn-em out along with the house, shed garage and forest. Once I responded to a mobile home fire as a result of the owner attempting to chase out rats with a propane torch. We went defensive right away as his large supply of small arms ammo started to cook off and watched the rats run out of the house into the wood shed…
