“A PIERCE WITH A PIZZA” could be another label for Chris Owens’ new fire engine. Owens is the proprietor of the Pizzetta pizzaria in Mystic, Connecticut, and when he saw a used Pierce fire engine for sale he just had to come up with a reason to buy it. Everybody wants to drive a fire engine, right?

Ten weeks and $50,000 later, he’s ready to respond. Owens has installed a full-size pizza oven on the pumper and equipped the rear compartment to keep beer kegs cool and tapped. Then he takes it to parties or even just stops at worksites to make and serve lunch.
