"Isn't This The Castle?"

This report is filed under the “Why can’t this happen to me?” category:

QUEEN ELIZABETH’S STAFF AT WINDSOR CASTLE were puzzled when a beer truck showed up at the delivery entrance with 12 barrels of Carlsburg Lager.

Their records showed that they weren’t expecting a delivery of 2,000 pints of beer and began questioning the lorry driver.  After some discussion, the guards telephoned the Windsor Castle Pub which is about five miles away and asked them if they were expecting the order.  The proprietor of the pub, Misko Coric,  said:  “Yes!  Where are they?”

It was a special order  to accommodate the pub’s customers during a special soccer match on tv that was to begin soon.

The 53-year-old publican said: “The delivery was late and we were getting worried. At first we thought the driver may have had an accident or something, but then the officer informed us that he was calling from the real Windsor Castle and had a rather confused delivery driver with him.

“I couldn’t believe it. I honestly thought it was a hoax but the officer insisted he was genuine and wanted confirmation that we were expecting a delivery.  We have received mail for the royal household here before but I think this is the first time they have received anything meant for us.”

The delivery finally arrived at the right Windsor Castle about three hours late, but it was still in time for the match.

A castle spokesman said: “It was very funny. But there’s no way the Queen sits down in the evening with a pint.”
