Fire Victim Pre-Bagged

WHILE IT IS NOT UNHEARD OF TO FIND A BODY in a fire building, it is extremely rare to find one already bagged.

That’s what Tacoma, Washington firefighters found Friday morning after they extinguished a fire in a small 2-story home in the city.

When they arrived on the scene around 5:45 am they found some fire showing through the roof of the house.  While advancing to the second floor to attack the fire they conducted a primary search and found a man unconscious and in distress.  They safely removed him from the house and began treatment on him while the hose crew extinguished the fire that was largely contained to an upper-floor bedroom.

During the overhaul stage, the FF’s came across a bag containing a dead body.  Overhaul was immediately stopped and they left the building while awaiting for police investigators to arrive.

The home was rented to a man, a woman and her 10-year-old son for the past year. But investigators have found no evidence that a child lived in the home full time. There was no child’s bedroom or clothing inside.

The man is still under sedation in the hospital and under police guard.  The Pierce County medical examiner confirmed Friday afternoon that the remains belonged to a woman but the time or cause of death had not yet been determined. The autopsy results will not be known until Monday, according to the office.  The police have classed the death to be due to “homicidal violence.”
