Fatal Amb Crash In Delaware

At 2:40 am Tuesday morning, Ambulance A-91 from the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad (Delaware) was transporting a patient to Beebe Hospital. It struck a tree while travelling on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) near the Lewes-Rehoboth fire company substation.

The collision opened up the passenger side of the patient care compartment, ejecting the paramedic. Both the 85 year old patient and paramedic died at the accident site. The two other rescue squad members suffered non-life threatening injuries.
