Summit Fire 70% Contained

THE SUMMIT FIRE IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY has consumed almost 4,000 acres and has been 70% contained according to the fire officials.  So far, there have been 36 homes and 18 outbuildings destroyed, but cooler temperatures and a heavy morning fog are aiding the firefighting efforts today.

The forces on the scene comprise of 13 helicopters, 3 air tankers, 278 fire engines, 35 bulldozers, 47 water tenders and nearly 3,000 firefighters.  It is expected that full containment will be reached in one or two days.
