A Fire Engine For $100?

WELL, A CHANCE ON ONE, ANYWAY.  The Jackson Township Fire Department in Nashville, Indiana, is selling off one of their older pumpers by raffle.  There are only 500 tickets that will be sold for $100 each.

The engine is in service and is a 1978 Ford LT-8000 with a 1,000 gpm American LaFrance pump.  The diesel engine was rebuilt in 2000.  The water tank is 2,500 gals. and a folding tank is included.

    Who is going to buy the tickets? It’s no sports car, so the public isn’t interested. It’s not antique or unique, so collectors wouldn’t want it. It’s 30 years old and high mileage so not many FD’s would want it.

    I guess the target would be financially strapped FDs. Should they really be spending their money on games of chance?

    They should have read the post from 4/22 on taking photos of apparatus, also.
