Rhode Island Firehouse Firebombed

SHORTLY AFTER 11 PM TUESDAY NIGHT, A FIREBOMB WAS thrown through a window of an East Providence, Rhode Island, fire station.

It was tossed into a section of the North Broadway firehouse that is not normally occupied and was not immediately detected.  However, the building’s sprinkler system was activated and put out the fire before any real damage was done.

Shortly afterwards, a similar device was found at a church just a few blocks away from the fire station.  Police had units assigned to stand by all the firehouses throughout the night.  City police and the State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating.
