PROVING ONCE AGAIN THAT YOU DON’T NEED COMMON SENSE to get a driver’s license, a charter bus driver in Seattle, Washington, was blindly following the “mystery lady’s” directions on the GPS navigation gadget when he blithely piloted his 11-ft. high bus part-way through a 9-ft. high overpass.

The driver said that he didn’t see the yellow sign (yes, THAT yellow sign!) posting the clearance height.

The bus was carrying 24 members of a high school girl’s softball team. 21 of the students and a coach were transported to the hospital, but all of them were treated and released. The Seattle Fire Department worked the call.

A spokesman for Garmin responded to queries about the path that their device selected for the bus: “Stoplights aren’t in our databases, either, but you’re still expected to stop for stoplights.”
