BURNHAM-ON-SEA, IN SW ENGLAND, HAS BEEN GETTING up close and personal with fire and rescue people all week.
You may recall our posting last Monday (HERE) about the ambulance that sank into the sand at the beach and had to be “rescued” by the beach patrol and a tractor.

Not to be outdone, on Thursday evening a Devon & Somerset Fire Dept. engine buried itself into the beach and had to be “rescued.”

They had a good excuse, though. They had been working a scrub fire along the beachfront dunes and when they came back to the fire engine the FF’s found that it had sunk down under its own weight. This time it took three tractors to inch it out onto firm ground.

It’s the weekend again, and if you’re wondering who might get stuck next, you could check in with Burnham-On-Sea’s live webcam set up on the beach HERE. The picture refreshes every 10 seconds so that you can follow the action. (Keep in mind that they’re several hours ahead in daylight over there.)

Firegeezer notes: I couldn’t begin to tell you how many times that I’ve had to be towed out of puddles and soft ground, so I’m allowed to smile with empathy.
