Empty Tanker Explodes

EARLY TUESDAY MORNING A SMALL FUEL TANKER caught fire in I-81 near Bristol, Virginia.

While emergency units were arriving, the empty tank failed leading to a small explosion and an anxious moment.

Nobody was injured, but there was a fairly large “debris field” around the truck and several people at a nearby hotel reported damaged autos in the parking lot.

The dashboard camera of a State Police car recorded the detonation:

    I tried to get this story out very early, I was on the call and the media first said a small explosion and it did not even get the first news story of the day until the video surfaced.

    This incident was a very close call and to be very honest the most scared I have been in my 15 years in the service
