A WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, WOMAN IS BEING HELD FOR setting a fire in a family room at the St. Boniface General Hospital on Thursday.

Sun Media reports:

Winnipeg police said a male waiting for treatment noticed the fire shortly after midnight and alerted staff members, who extinguished the blaze.

Damage is estimated at $600 but the consequences could have been disastrous, police said. Several hundred people, patients and staff included, were in the building at the time.

Members of the city’s arson task force arrested Claudette Louise Abraham, 33, of Winnipeg. She’s charged with arson damage to property, arson disregard human life and failure to comply with conditions of a recognizance. She is in custody at the Remand Centre.
