WILLIAM ETZLER OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, was recovering from a stroke in the San Francisco General Hospital. Wednesday he was to be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for continued care.
The St. Joseph’s Ambulance Service picked him up and transferred him to the Laguna Honda Hospital for treatment. After the ambulance left, Etzler left. He claims that he was ignored and left unattended for 5 hours, but the hospital says he was gone less than 15 minutes after he got there.
Now there’s a big brouhaha between the hospital and the ambulance comany over who was responsible for him.
Police finally found him Thursday at his girlfriend’s house. How he got there, nobody’s saying. Meanwhile, he’s been sent back to S.F. General where he awaits still another transfer to his 5th stop in 3 days.
The San Francisco Chronicle attempts to sort it all out HERE.
