Nissan Motors Introduces “Siren Blockers”
THE ANNUAL DETROIT AUTO SHOW opens on Saturday, January 19. It is the premier North American automobile industry event and serves as the kick-off point to introduce new concepts.
NISSAN Motors will be unveiling their new Forum mini-van model. Pandering to that segment of the population that seemingly cannot function unless they are surrounded by assorted sounds that some people call “music,” they have designed an interior sound system that all-but guarantees to shut out those unwanted noises such as fire and ambulance sirens.
The Forum’s equipment includes an advanced Bose media system with proximity sensor-based information controller, a one-button audio muting system, and individual seat-mounted speakers for every row.
As you can see in the publicity photograph, the speakers are mounted in the wrap-around headrests for that full, enveloping listening experience. No longer will the driver, or passengers, need to worry about losing precious seconds off their trip by slowing down and pulling over for emergency vehicles. They just won’t even know that you’re there.
The sun always shines in the new Nissan Forum because it has an all-glass roof from cowling to tailgate.

In reality, I doubt it’ll make much difference. Folks seem to ignore us anyway, so what are the odds that you’ll come across one of these operated by someone who would actually comply with the law but be unaware of our presence? Still, if it saves one life/injury/etc…
