Firehouse Burglar Ransacks Command Post Vehicle

WHILE THE DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA, FIRE DEPARTMENT was out working an auto accident early Tuesday morning, a thief broke into the fire station.

After looking through a ladder truck and taking a portable radio from it, he went over to the Command Unit and started it up.  Next he drove it away from the station for about 300 yards, then ransacked it, destroying a lot of computer equipment to the tune of $10,000.

On Friday the police released a videotape recorded by the station’s security camera and asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the criminal.
