Comments Off

INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEADLY TOWNHOUSE FIRE in Toronto early yesterday that killed a mother and two of her five children (reported HERE) has shown that the smoke detectors in the house had been removed by the tenant.

The townhouses are owned by the Toronto Community Housing Agency and all of them are equipped with hard-wired detectors.  The TCHA inspects them annually.

Fire investigators took a quick check yesterday and found to their dismay that eight other homes had disabled their smoke detectors.  (Firegeezer never will understand why some people do that.)

The Toronto Globe and Mail has the DETAILS.
The Toronto Star has MORE.
